Climate Governance Initiative Greece co-hosted the second joint webinar in the European Chapters collaboration series, organised together with Boards Impact Forum (Nordics), Chapter Zero France, Chapter Zero Netherlands, and Chapter Zero Brussels.
The webinar explored the strategic implications of the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) Advisory Opinion on Climate Change for boards and senior leaders, with a focus on directors’ duties, governance readiness, and climate-related legal accountability.

Stathis Potamitis

Stathis Potamitis has played a key role in shaping corporate governance and insolvency frameworks in Greece and Europe. He chaired the law-drafting committee of the latest Greek Insolvency Law, served on the European Commission expert group on insolvency and restructuring, and was a member of the Hellenic Corporate Governance Council that drafted the first Greek Corporate Governance Code. He has also authored a compilation of good governance practices for unlisted and family enterprises.
Frank Kroes
Partner, Baker McKenzie (Amsterdam)
Frank Kroes has over 30 years of experience in complex commercial litigation and national and international arbitration, including corporate liability, ESG-related disputes, class actions, professional negligence, and securities litigation. He regularly appears before top-level courts in the Netherlands and the European Union and serves as Deputy Justice at the Court of Appeal of ’s-Hertogenbosch. He is also a CEDR-accredited mediator.
Ana Barreira
Lawyer; Founding Director, International Institute for Law and Environment (IIDMA)
Ana Barreira began her career at Allen & Overy’s Environmental Law Department and served as legal advisor to the Spanish Presidency of the European Union during the Rio+10 process. She has worked as an international consultant for the World Bank, the European Commission and the European Investment Bank on environmental law-making and enforcement. She leads IIDMA’s work on climate change, energy transition and environmental democracy and is a member of the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law.
Caroline Ruellan
Independent Director, KKO International; President, SONJ Conseil
Caroline Ruellan has nearly 20 years of experience advising boards, executives and shareholders on governance, board effectiveness, crisis situations, activism response and high-stakes strategic decisions. She serves as an Independent Director at KKO International, President of SONJ Conseil, President of Le Cercle des Administrateurs, and member of the AMF Retail Investors Consultative Commission. She holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School and a Doctorate in Private Law from Université Panthéon-Assas.
