At the Alumni Association of Athens College (ΣΑΚΑ) Environment Conference 2025, CGI Greece shared key insights on how boards can integrate climate governance into long-term corporate strategy.
Climate Governance Initiative (CGI) Greece was proud to support and contribute to the the Alumni Association of Athens College (ΣΑΚΑ) Environment Conference 2025, held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation – Athens College Theater.
The conference brought together thought leaders, academics, and practitioners to exchange insights on the urgent transformations required in society and the economy to address the climate crisis.
CGI Greece played a key role in Panel 2: “Beyond Survival: Transforming the Social & Economic Landscape in the Era of Climate Crisis,” with the active participation of two distinguished members of our community:
- Prof. Andreas Papandreou, member of the CGI Greece Advisory Board, expertly moderated the discussion.
- Marina Niforos, President & Founder of CGI Greece, shared her expert perspective on the role of boards in steering climate action.
In her intervention, Marina Niforos underscored three key messages for corporate leaders:
- Climate governance is a strategic imperative – not a compliance exercise, but a core risk management and value creation tool.
- Companies that proactively assess and mitigate climate-related risks will be better positioned to protect assets and seize emerging opportunities.
- Boards must move beyond short-term pressures and embed long-term sustainability strategies into decision-making to ensure resilience and competitiveness.
CGI Greece remains committed to advancing this dialogue and supporting boards in integrating climate governance principles into corporate strategy.
We warmly thank all panelists for their valuable contributions and Prof. Papandreou for his moderation, which enriched an inspiring and timely exchange of perspectives.
